As President Viktor Yanukovych attempted to implement a constitutional “reform” to gain absolute power, ignoring public opinion and international legal legitimacy, the project aimed to provide Ukrainian citizens with objective information about this process.
The project also aimed to create an alternative non-governmental constitutional discourse with the participation of public opinion leaders and the expert community.
As a result, the team of the School for Policy Analysis NaUKMA managed to involve as many people as possible in the process of developing amendments to the Ukrainian Constitution. In addition, the project helped to raise public awareness of political leaders’ intentions to “reform” the Basic Law.
