Building civil society through public engagement in constitutional reform

Building civil society through public engagement in constitutional reform

Duration: 01.07.2011 – 29.02.2012

Supported by National Endowment for Democracy

Amount of funding: USD 53,200

The project aimed to engage a broad audience in developing and adopting amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine. Its main objectives included constantly informing the public about the progress of constitutional reform and improving citizens’ understanding of this area.

The work of the SfPA team and partners within the project contributed to the objective of informing the public (Ukrainian and foreign NGOs, media, and expert centres) about the directions and mechanisms of reforming the Basic Law that the current government can use.

The project also helped to formulate a professional public opinion on the essence of constitutional reform and to establish communication between all civil society actors involved in the implementation of the changes.
