\"\ud83c\udf0e\"The School for Policy Analysis NaUKMA held the online event “EU and Ukraine in the Multipolar and Turbulent World: Challenges for Global Security” with support from JOINT<\/a> and the facilitation of Anna Osypchuk<\/a> and Maksym Yakovlyev<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the first panel “The War in Ukraine and EU’s Geopolitical Awakening: Practical Steps” we discussed whether the window of opportunity is there for the EU to strengthen its geopolitical position, influence with upcoming EU elections, and political <\/a>and electoral turbulence in the US. We also talked about the reactions to President Macron\u2019s and others recent rhetoric regarding the possibility of a more direct involvement in warfare. The experts shared their thoughts on how Ukraine might\/will strengthen the EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the second panel “Reaching out for Common Security beyond Europe and North America” experts have pointed out the ambiguous positions of European and Asian countries that condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and vote for relevant resolutions at the UN, yet maintain diplomatic relations with Russia. One explanation offered by the experts is that these countries prioritize balancing between great powers. Another point of discussion is that achieving sustainable peace, both in Ukraine and elsewhere, is only possible within a world order that upholds the inviolability of norms and agreements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
